Grand Opening Giveaway!!!!!!!

To get the ball rolling here at the BusyButlers Boutique, I've decided to have a giveaway!!! One lucky winner (maybe two - depending on how many entries I get!) will get a Bow Bundle from either the Christmas Couture Collection... .

...or the Merry & Bright Collection

Each Bow Bundle will include:
1 set of Deluxe Hair Bows on Alligator clips
2 sets of "Bitty" snap clips - either bows or blossoms or one of each
1 "Baby Band"

My good friend from High School inspired me with her Belgian Truffles Giveaway. She asked for our best memories from 2008. I had such a blast thinking of this last year for that one. And it got me thinking about some other special memories that I have with my daughter. I've been reflecting a lot this season as well, on how blessed I am to have the mother I do. Because doing our daughters' hair is such a personal thing, and such a sweet way for us to bond with our daughters and spend a little bit of precious one-on-one time with them, I want to hear your favorite Mom & Me memories. It can be of your mom, your daughter, your grandma or even that special woman who has been a mentor to you. This does not have to be a hair-related memory! Just one about those "angel mothers" in our lives and the ways we've become closer as a result of those memories.

So to enter, write a Mom & Me memory in the comments section of this post by midnight MST, Friday, December 12th. I'll do the drawing sometime Saturday afternoon, so check back!
To score another chance in the drawing, check out the rest of my bows & clips and tell me which one is your favorite here in the comments section! And if you REALLY want them, blog about them, and then tell me you did in a comment here (don't forget to include your blog address!) and I'll give you 2 more extra entries! So, FOUR chances total! Good luck!!!

Way to go! You've done some great work here, I'm very impressed. I just made about 30 bows for my sister and that was more than enough for me, so good work! One of my favorite memories of my mom doing my hair is nearly every Saturday evening after baths we would sit in front of Lawrence Welk (did you see that SNL skit, it was FUNNY) while she put my hair up in pink sponge curlers. I'm sure that bag of curlers is still in my parents house somewhere.
Is it any surprise that my favorite are the light brown bows? Prolly not.
I'm blogging about this for sure. Good luck!

Wow! I had no Idea you were working on this, the bows look GREAT!!!!

Those are sOOO cute. I'm totally impressed. Soo, my mommy and me story: One of Mine and J's favorite thing to do is tie her hair up in rags. Our favorite material was a pink material. She loves going to the mirror and checking out all the ties in her hair and she LOVES the big poofy curl in the morning. :) I love doing her hair and it's fun to do together.

My favorite is lydia. . . soooo fun. :) And I blogged about your boutiqe so all my friends can find your site. . . I hope lots of people buy them. :). . . and I hope I win. :)

I found your blog through Jill and I must say that you do some great work! I can never get my bows to look this good.
A memory I have is that during the holiday sesaon I was always dancing in the Nutcracker. My mom would put the pink sponge rollers in to get the tight wringlets. We would just talk about anything while she was doing it. It was the best time.

Christina said...

I love the Lydia set also, green and brown are adorable together!

My mom wasn't a big hair person, I don't remember her doing my hair much, my sisters usually did it, if ever. But I do remember liking to brush her hair, we'd sit up on the top of the couch during FHE or movie night and brush and braid her hair or stick tons of ponytails and barretts in it.

Now, I love doing my girls hair and every once in a while I get brave and do rag curls or messy buns with bows. So cute!

Christina said...

Oh, and I blogged about it! Hope you get a lot more entries and I hope I win also!

Wow! Very cute! I love them!!!

My mom is an amazing woman. People often tell me I'm like her, and that is the best compliment that I could ever receive. However, not to take away from my mom, I decided to share a memory of my grandma. She taught me to sew during the summers when I was a little girl. She would take me to pick out a pattern and fabric. Then every day she would come pick me up and take me to her house to work on the project. We ate lunch together, and we always had a nice time. When we finished whatever we were sewing, she had me put it on, and she took me back to the fabric store to show it off. I'll always be grateful for what she taught me.

(P.S. the Vanden Flaus thing is my husband's blog--don't ask, 'cause I don't know :). Anyway, I don't have my own blog, and I didn't know how to post a comment without one.)

I think my favorite bows on your site are actually the black and white ones you showed in the post when you said you made them for your daughter and someone asked if you sold them. Very cute! Of the ones you have listed, I think I like "Carol" the best, but they are all amazing.

One of my favorite memories of my Mom and I are the few times we went prom dress shopping together. We went to the mall all day and had a wonderful time finding the perfect dress. One year we witnessed a mother and daughter fighting over the dress selection and we looked at each other and were so thankful we never fought. She helped me pick everything from the dress to the jewelry to the shoes. Those are some very sweet memories of my Mother and me!

My favorite is Carol! These are soooo cute Millie!!

I blogged about these, so I can have 4 chances to win!! Oh please let it be me.

Hi, I found your blog via another hair blog I read, and love your bows! Since my girls are growing out bangs, I especially liked the clips, "Lizzie" and "Hope" were my favorites. As for a mom and me memory, mine starts with my mom and ends with my mom, me, and now my daughter...I have such fond memories of seeing the Nutcracker every year with my mom and sisters and am thrilled to now add my daughter to the mix. Can't wait until daughter #2 is big enough!
Great blog, great bows!

These are adorable bows! I love them. I am guessing I need to leave another entry to tell you which one is my favorite!

I LOVE the Lucy bitty bow snaps! I love the green in them a lot! Very, very cute! My favorite mommy and me memory was taking my little girl to the pumpkin patch. It was so fun to watch her have a great time!

Hey grrrrl! I saw this giveaway a few days ago, but didn't want to enter until after I had a chance to advertise it on our girl hair blog. Your bows are ADORABLE!

Okay, quick "mommy & me" story. When I was in my mid-teens my mom and I went out to eat for a fun afternoon (something we did often in the big city). We had a really hot waiter on this day. My mom thought she'd be funny and before we left she told the guy loudly, "Hey, my daughter thinks you're really cute!" I can't remember if SHE left my number or if I did. Anyway, I was so mortified. He called me later that week. Ends up I was 17 and he was 24! LOL

Okay, entry #1...

2Shaye ♪♫ said...

Needless to say, it's SO hard to pick. They're all beautiful. I'd say I love Louisa, Lorelei, and the camo ones are so stinkin' cute! If I had to pick one, I'd die. Okay, maybe not die. But please don't make me pick just one!

Entry #2...

YAY I blogged about it. Wheeeee!

What a great idea. I will be a little different. My mom was a mother of eight and a great women. But becuase I was one of the youngest of the bunch, I was lucky enough to have two mom's. My oldest sister was like a mom to me. I have many great memories of her, but the best is of my sister teaching me to cook. She loved to cook treats for everyone and I learned to make cookies and brownies at her knee. I still thinks she makes the best brownies.

MnM said...

I love the Lucia Britty bows with snaps. I know my three daughters would love any of these bows, I hope we win!

I blogged about your giveaway, hope I win.

Entry number four for blogging.

Oh, I love, love, love your stuff. I want to win the Merry and Bright collection! *cross fingers*
So, for a mom and me memory, it sounds like we all share this one. My mom used to roll my hair in socks (rag curls) every Saturday night while we talked so I would have curls for church. It really was the only one on one time we had, since I was the oldest of seven kids. So there's 1 entry.
I checked out the rest of the bows--oh my cute. I LOVED the gingerbread bitty clips, but you have a lot of seriously cute and original ideas. There's 2...
I'll try to make a post before tomorrow as well, but either way, thanks for the fun giveaway!

I just found your site and your bows are AWESOME!

Here is my Mommy Moment or rather "Great-Grand-mommy Moment"
My great-grandmother died when I was 5 years old and I have very few memories of her. The one that I hold dear is being about 4 and brushing her long white hair. I brushed and brushed and brushed her beautiful hair. I always remember her wearing her hair down with these beautiful handpainted hair combs. When she passed away she left the hair combs for me, her oldest great-grandaughter. Today I love to tell my daughter about Great-Grandma's hair as I brush my little's long hair....over and over again!

I forgot to post...I love the gold present bows.

They look like wrapping paper bows!

I have a lot of happy memories with my mom. But one that has affected my life... My mom teaching me how to crochet. She is a very crafty woman. So I have learned quite a bit from her. My crocheting has helped me a lot though. I have become more confident, social (made new friends along my path) and even successful (selling things I make).

Not to mention, I even became a tester! My daughters (4 of them) and my son enjoy what I do. They get excited anytime I get my yarn and hook out and want to know what I am doing. That is awesome! As a matter of fact a few of them (the older ones) have become interested in learning. So it has even brought me closer (the one-on-one time you talked about) with my kids.

Nothing could be better!!

Congratulations on starting this business! Your bows are gorgeous and I am sure you'll do well.

Have you checked out etsy.com yet?

One of my favorite mom and me memories is when my mom recently visited after I had my baby. It was so wonderful to spend time with my mom as I was becoming a new mom! Being a mom has certainly helped me appreciate my mom even more!

I saw your giveaway on Miller Manes. A special Mommy and Me moment is that everyday when I do my 3 year olds hair she turns around just before I start for at least one big hug. She just can't start the hair process wihtout it.

My favorite memory with my mom was our Nutcracker trip every year. We got all dressed up and went out to lunch then went to the ballet. We would drive around after that and look at Christmas lights and sing carols (since my dad and brothers didn't like it when we sang when we saw lights as a family). This year I get to do the Nutcracker with my mom and my two daughters and I think I am more excited than they are!!!

Your bows are so incredibly cute!!

I couldn't decide which specific bow I liked the best. I was trying to decide but I ended up with three and with each one, it would just depend on which DD's hair it goes in and how much time I would have to put it in. Anyway, the ones I liked were all the black and pear colors! I love that combination!

Oh, man! I'm getting so excited for the drawing tomorrow! I have love, love, LOVED reading all your comments. They have brought back so many memories for me. I already thought my mom was amazing, but now I'm convinced she was supermom - because so many of those thing that you shared were ALL things we did together - not to mention the similar grandma & great-grandma memories.

Jill, HMachine & AmyJane! I remember the curlers at night too! So fun! (And AmyJane, I'm the oldest of 7 too - all girls!)

Heather - I danced in the Nutcracker several years in a row as well. My mom ran her own dance studio and it was tradition for us and for much of our little town to come join in the fun!

Christina - I loved "doing" my mom's (& dad's!) hair while they sat on the couch. They were so patient and often took pictures when we were done.

Laura - Every summer I would go to my grandma's house for a week or two either all alone or with a sister. My grandma ALWAYS either had a sewing project ready or did the same thing - helped us pick fabric & a pattern. My favorite was the year we made Strawberry Shortcake pj's!

Shannon - I loved your story about prom dress shopping! I only got to go shopping with my mom once out of the three years that I had a date to the dance. Things were tight for a farming family, so I wore my mom's old velvet formal one year and felt like a princess! But I LOVED the year that we did get to go shopping. The dress we found was perfect - except it was way low in the back. So they we got to go to the fabric store (my favorite place in the world!) to choose fabric & lace to fix it. It was so fun to design a modest back with my mom and help her put it together - and I felt so beautiful on prom night!

All the Taylors & Bartlett Family - I had one experience seeing the Nutcracker by Ballet West, but it is one that I'll cherish my whole life because my mom AND my dad made us feel like the seven most beautiful, pampered princesses in the world. All of us got new dresses and they even took us to a very high end restaraunt (my first time eating shrimp!) I loved that night!

Carli Webb - I love that you shared about taking your little girl to the pumpkin patch. Memories like that are what like the icing on the cupcake of being a mom to a girl! We had a blast this year with our pumpkins, too.

Shaye - LOL I loved your waiter story! I'm really grateful my mom never did THAT to me, but she tells some pretty great stories about her little sister doing that to her...

MnM - Thank you for sharing your memory of your big sister teaching you to cook. Some of my favorite memories are of all my sisters & I in the kitchen, often breaking into song & dance sporadically. Priceless.

Cindy - My great-grandma passed when I was quite young as well, but I had the joy of going to see her each summer. I did her nails. That was our thing. We would talk and I would give her manicures. I really miss that!

J7Troop - My mom also taught me to crochet and as a result I have been able to make beautiful things for my home as well as for others (I was able to participate in a "Covers for Kids" making crocheted winter hats) What a feeling of accomplishment and confidence one gets when they complete something handmade like that!

Marisa - What would I have done without my mom when my first one was born??? Her experience and wisdom are things I will forever be grateful for! Thank you for sharing that!!!

Robert & Hannah - How cute! That is one of my favorite things about doing my little girl's hair - it just gives us a chance to bond & show love to one another. Thanks!

Keep the great comments comin', everyone! And see you tomorrow afternoon!!!

Wow those are adorable! One of my favorite mom memories is when my mom would come home from work and we were all relaxing in front of the TV, my mom would lay on her stomach, and all 3 of us girls would get out every hair accessory we owned and just do her hair for hours. Now that I am a mom, I realize how busy life can be, and how special it was that she made time for us like that.

Hey Millie! I found your site on Shannon's blog. Such cute bows! So one of my favorite memories with my mom is when we were extremely poor. I wanted a cabbage patch doll for Christmas. My mom gave me a beautiful night gown that she made for me on Christmas eve. (White with red polk a dots and a cute red bow on the neckline. The next day I received a cabbage patch doll(well she made it) but she also made me a matching night gown for my doll. I loved dressing my doll up in the matching night gown! What is amazing is that my mom did this with 4 kids and one on the way!

Hi! My favorite mom & me memory: wow, there are so many. My mom was very young when she had me and she had to work very hard and go to school at the same time, so our 'quality' time was limited. She was my Girl Scout Troop Leader and we had a sleepover and she curled all of our hair with "rag" curls and let us put real make-up on. I showed my boys the pictures and they laughed. My friends thought she was the greatest and they were right.

April said...

Ok here goes for comment #2 I love all your bows and I know they aren't easily made (I've tried). My favorite are the Lydia set. Love the colors

My mom and I would always lay on her bed at night and just talk about our day away from all the other kids it was just our time. It felt like it lasted all night long but really is was about 30 before bed as I know she did it with all of us.

Love your bows. I think my daughter would love to wear some.

Sarah said...

These are so beautiful!! I found your blog through my cousin's (Kristin Taylor Elliott). One of my favorite mom-and-me memories is with my grandma when I was a little girl: she used to let me put her hair up in curlers, tease it up with a brush, and put a million bows and clips in it. I am sure I made such a mess of her carefully-styled hair now that I look back on that, but she would let me do it because playing with her grand-daughter was more important to her than having nice-looking hair. A good lesson for me being the mom of a hair-grabbing toddler! :)

♥ Boomer ♥ said...

First, I have to tell you that I love the CAMO!!!

Second, I am Momma Miller's Mommy (millermanes.blogspot.com), and her blog sent me here 'cause she blogged about it and blabbed and me 'allegedly' talking to a waiter about her!! Her memory is WAY too long!

Anyway, your bows are precious, and I'd love to win for my little granddaughter at Miller Manes.

Third ~ my mother died several years ago, but I have many fun memories. We LOVED working on puzzles together, especially at Christmas time. We'd set up a card table and start on the puzzle. I secretly hated puzzles, but I loved seeing Mother enjoy it so much. I really, really miss her.

Last ~ I blogged tonight about Miller Manes ~ and folks are gonna find your giveway!!! :-) Does that count?? ;-)

♥ Boomer ♥ said...

Now....I could really tell you some 'Daughter and me' stories ~ but Momma Miller has already spilled some beans!!!

Love the bows!
